چکیده

This research is representative of a two semester project focusing on noise reduction strategies for cable systems. Several specific areas of EM noise reduction are evaluated including shield termination techniques, and double shield techniques. In obtaining empirical results for all test cases, noise injection through bulk current injection (BCI) and transverse electromagnetic (TEM) cell exposure is utilized. After discussing the results of these experiments, a short case study will be presented by which noise reduction techniques are implemented and evaluated.

Modelling of Shielded Cables with Shield Driver Circuits for Bioelectrical Signal Transmissions under Robust Operating Conditions

Transmission lines are used to transmit energy such as acoustic or electromagnetic waves or bulk of electrical energy from one place to another, and co-axial shielded cable of them. Other means of transportation are two-wires (twisted pair cable and un-twisted pair cable). All such transmission lines are prone to noise coupling from ambient environment, for example, noise from capacitive coupli...

Minimizing Crosstalks in Unshielded Twisted-pair Cables by Using Electromagnetic Topology Techniques

Crosstalk reduction is analyzed for a reconfigured category-five cable network using electromagnetic topology-based simulation. The reconfigured network results in a marked reduction in inductive near-end crosstalk for the unshielded twisted-pair cable network. Analyses show that half-loop shifting of the generator-pair wires placed next to the receptor is the most effective way to control the ...

Characterization of Different Cable Ferrite Materials to Reduce the Electromagnetic Noise in the 2–150 kHz Frequency Range

The gap of standardization for conducted and field coupled electromagnetic interferences (EMI) in the 2-150 kHz frequency range can lead to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) problems. This is caused by power systems such as Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controlled rectifiers, photovoltaic inverters or charging battery units in electric vehicles. This is a very important frequency spectral due ...

Cable Noise in Impedance Measurements by Scott A. Denenberg Thesis

This thesis focuses on the analysis of cable noise in impedance measurements. Specifically, the focus is on cables being developed for embedded sensing applications. In many applications, such as torque sensing and embedded fatigue and corrosion sensing, it is not feasible to have the probe electronics unit in close proximity to the material under test (MUT). Therefore, a cabling system is nece...
